Life Lessons

Welcome to “Life Lessons!”

Everyone has a fascinating story to tell. The events in our lives make up the chapters. Embodied in these chapters are lessons for living life fully and meaningfully. The people we have known become the characters; and the events become the plot. We can use our creative imaginations and emotional intelligence to supply the meanings.

You star in your own story. As you read the stories in this section, you might like to think about how you can use the ideas and meanings in the chapters of your own life story to understand yourself better.

You can become a conscious creator of your story by paying careful attention to the lessons and making wise intentional choices as the events in the plot of your life unfold. You can use your inner wisdom to understand the meaning and wise guidance in your stories.

Depending on what we tell ourselves about our personal stories, we can pull ourselves down or direct ourselves into hopefulness. The significant meanings you attach to your story can—and will--affect your self-esteem, your pursuit of happiness, and even your physical health.

Our stories, and the lessons in them, influence our choices and our relationships. What we learn from our life lessons will affect how we feel and how we cope with what life deals out. How we use what we learn will shape our identities and our destinies.

I always find people’s courage in their stories. Think about your own story. What difficulties have you survived? What resources have you, or do you, use to get through hard times?

I do not recommend ignoring the pain or pretending that that difficult things didn’t happen. But I heartily encourage the telling of the story, preferably in a safe place, where you can see the choices you have made and the meanings you have created. Our strength of character, health of body, and peace of mind live and breathe in our amazing personal stories.

Let’s take a creative look at the healing, uplifting, potential in our amazing personal stories. I welcome you to share something of your own life lessons with me. If you give me permission, I may choose some of your ideas to share with others who visit this website.
